What Happens at a Dog Social Session? (And Is It Right for Your Dog?)

Over the past week, we have started running new secure field social sessions, and we have already had quite a few questions about how they work and whether they’d suit different dogs — so I thought I’d put everything in one place 😊

🐕 What is a dog social session?

It’s a safe, structured group session where dogs can run, play, socialise, and just be dogs — all within a fully controlled and positive environment.

All dogs are carefully matched based on size, temperament, and play style. Taken to a secure, fully enclosed private field. Given time to run, explore, and socialise safely!

It’s not a free-for-all — the focus is on creating the right group, so every dog feels comfortable, has a great time, and makes some fur besties 🐾

🚐 How does it work?

Our social sessions include collection and drop-off, making it really easy for you.

A typical session looks like:

• Collection from home

• Travel to the secure field

• Off-lead play, social time, and exploring

• Home time — happy, muddy (sometimes!), and tired 🐾

Routes are carefully planned to keep time in the car to a minimum.

🧠 How I choose the groups (the important bit!)

This is something I put a lot of thought into. Dogs are matched based on:• Personality• Energy levels• Size• Play style• Location (to help minimise travel time)

Where possible, dogs stay in the same group each week. This helps them build familiarity, settle in quickly, and form friendships with the other dogs.

Even from the first week, it’s been amazing to see how quickly dogs relax when they’re in the right group.

🛡️ Safety first (always)

✔️ Fully enclosed secure field✔️ Constant supervision✔️ Fully insured✔️ Canine first aid trained

These sessions are also ideal for dogs who:• Don’t have reliable recall yet• Need safe off-lead time• Benefit from structured socialisation

🐾 The fun part…

I absolutely love these sessions — they’re honestly the highlight of my week.

There’s a lot of running, playing, encouraging good interactions… and I’m not actually sure who does more running — me or the dogs 😅🐕

And of course… lots of treats for good boys and girls 🦴✨

🐶 Is it right for your dog?

Most dogs benefit hugely, especially if they:

• Love being around other dogs

• Have lots of energy

• Would benefit from confidence building

If your dog is a little unsure, I simply take things slower and make sure they’re matched very carefully.

💬 Common questions

“My dog doesn’t have recall yet” That’s completely fine — the secure field means they can still enjoy safe off-lead time.

“Will my dog be overwhelmed?” Not with the right group — that’s exactly why I match them so carefully.

🐾 What I’ve already seen (even in the first week!)

Even from the first few sessions, it’s been amazing to see:• Dogs gaining confidence• Lovely play and interactions• Very happy (and very tired!) pups going home 🐾

📩 Want to find out more?

I’m currently building my regular groups, so if you’d like your dog to be part of them, just pop me a message — I’m always happy to chat and see what would suit them best 😊
